Boutique learning for today

Silvermine Academy - The High School is registered with the Western Cape Education Department and the Independent Examination Board (IEB). The Grade 12s write the IEB examinations which are recognised internationally. Silvermine Academy is a member of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA).

Silvermine is a small school with a big heart. It is an inclusive school offering extended opportunities for students who learn at a fast pace and interventions for those who need it. It is the academic home of the Ubuntu Soccer Academy – South Africa’s future professional footballers sponsored by corporates and soccer loving individuals.

Silvermine Academy lies in the heart of the Noordhoek Valley alongside Sun Valley Primary (Grade 1 to 7) and Sunbird Preschool (Grade R), which make up the Sun Valley Group of Schools. It was developed out of a need for a high performing brain based learning site where students are nurtured through the often traumatic teenage years. This caring, structured environment ensures that students build confidence and competence. The school offers a high teacher to student ratio.

Silvermine Academy was founded in January 2005. Initially there were 25 pupils. We have moved campus as we have grown and now, at 125, we are situated on a spacious site site where we have the befit of security and the freedom to enjoy the facilities of the Group of Schools. The school offers all the core subjects for Grade 8 and 9. From Grade 10 the students select pathways which may include: English, Afrikaans, Life Orientation, Mathematics, Maths Literacy, Physical Science, Biology, History, Geography, Business Studies, Hospitality, Accounting, Tourism, Visual Art, Design, Information Technology and Computer Applications Technology.

The school is under the leadership of Mrs Mandy Pistorius. Mandy has worked in the Group of Schools for 20 years. Mandy is supported by a dynamic team of teachers who are leaders in their field. She works closely with the Group CEO, Gavin Keller.

Homework classes run on four afternoons per week and offer students an opportunity to receive extra help after hours. The classes are structured to ensure that help is available in all subjects.

The school also boasts a very active InterAct Club and Camera club. We offer Soccer, Bodyboarding, Soccer, Netball, Sailing, Golf, Squash, Table Tennis, Swimming, Dance, Equine and Walking.

Our Soccer players excelled in the Metropolitan Cup and the Coke Cup tournaments in 2013 and one of our players was selected to represent South Africa at the 2014 World Cup.

Silvermine Academy is a Section 21 Non-profit Organisation (NPO).
